So we had an interesting night as we got home from Washington, DC yesterday at 3pm. We knew something was up with Bella as she slept in the car more then usual and didn't have her usual temperment and appetite. She was running a little bit of a fever and we gave her some Motrin to take her temp down.
At 9pm she still had a temp and it was 103. We gave her some more Motrin to take it down which it did take it back down to 101. At about 1am this morning I woke up and Bella was burning up. Krissy took her temp and it was up to 104.5 so off to the Emergency Room we went.
They admitted her and gave her an IV with fluids and some Tylenol and took a chest X-Ray and some blood. Everything came back normal and Bella fell asleep in the bed in the room she was in. It wasn't a fun adventure as we had to hold her down while they put the IV in and she was crying for "Mommmaaa" the whole time. So everytime after that when they layed her down on the bed to check her she cried.
They also wanted a urine sample which they were going to take by putting in a catheter. At the time we didn't say anything because we were digesting everything they were going to do. After the doctor left we realized what they were going to do and decided we were going to ask why they wanted a urine sample since they took some blood.
Apparently they wanted to check for a UTI and we decided she had been through enough that she didn't need to go through the procedure of having a catheter put in. Krissy didn't think she had a UTI and I agreed with her that it was unnecessary for her to have to go through having this done. What really aggravated the heck out of us was that about an hour later they came into the room with a bag they could put in her diaper to collect a urine sample.
We ended up being there for about 3 1/2 hours and got back home at 4am. She seems to be doing much better this morning and her temp is way back down and she seems to be heading back to her normal self.
